How it Works

Below are a few simple instructions on how to use a menstrual cup.

1. Press the sides of the menstrual cup together to form a "U" shape that can easily be inserted into the vagina. Alternatively, you can push a finger into the rim of the cup, pressing it down and forming a center of a triangle. This alternative forms a smaller rim which will be easier to insert.

2. The manner in which you hold the cup should be such that the stem or the tail end of the cup is facing your palm.

3. In a position that you find comfortable, gently relax your vaginal walls. Separate your labia using your free hand and push the cup inside. It is advised that the cup should not be placed too far up the vagina as that would lead to leaks.

4. Release the cup and rotate it to ensure that it has fully opened.

5. To remove, grip the step and pull gently. Flush the contents in a toilet, rinse the cup and reinsert.
